03/02/2010 - David Ferrer captured his eighth ATP Title


 

In the final in Acapulco David Ferrer defeated his countryman Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 for his first title of the year and eighth ATP title of his career.

David won five titles on clay, two on hard and one on the grass. Ferrer is 13-4 on the year.

Ferrer avenged his final loss to Ferrero last week in Buenos Aires, improved to 6-2 in career meetings with Ferrero and snapped Ferrero's impressive 14-match winning streak.

After Ferrero's rough start to 2010 season when he lost his first matches in Auckland and at the Australian Open he won two straight titles in Costa do Sauipe and Buenos Aires.

30-year-old Juan Carlos Ferrero compiled his second-best winning streak of his career (with career-best 16-match winning streak in 2001).

Since year begin Ferrero moved up nine places to be 14th position in the ATP Ranking.
